How Do I Prepare For My First Bodybuilding Show Next Year?
My cousin said he want to do a show next year and told me to decide which show but i do not know any shows near my place.
I am about 192lbs at 5.7 ft now in a bulking season.
I personally have never prepared for a show before.
So please give me some advice from those of who know what they are talking about.
They generally test in all shows but only the guys that place.
Good on you for even thinking about going in for your first show – you are gonna love it.
I aint gonna post it here but I’ll email you my full pre-contest stack, what compounds to use and when to stop using them, timescales, the lot.
Don’t be disappointed if you mess up first time round! There is LOADS to learn about contest prep and it’s only with practice that you’ll know just how to treat your body in readiness. What works for me may work for you, but it’s unlikely that it will work quite as well because we are different. Hopefully it’ll give you a good starting point though.
You know how when you are bulking you have to be strict, get your diet & supps and everything just right? Well that’s nothing compared to how you gotta be when it’s competition prep time. Knowing which comp you will do will help, research who the judges are if you can find out, who else will be competing etc. etc. Sure, being shredded on stage is very important, but you can hedge your bets and make your own luck with a bit of research.
As an example, I got a great placing last year because I happened to find out that a couple of the judges placed a lot of emphasis on a really good rear double bicep position but from talking to others who’d been judged by these people before they liked to see a nice but not huge lat spread at the same time. When I posed I relaxed my lats just a little, just like I wasn’t trying to show them off to detract from my upper back and arms. Two of the judges commented on this to me afterwards and said how impressed they were.
This is really where entering a few comps and getting to know how to play the game really comes in. Get to know the people involved, what goes down well and where – it all helps.
Above all though mate – have a blast! It’s truly great standing on that stage looking your best and having a crowd clapping and cheering you. Win or lose does not matter – until you’ve stood on that stage you are not really a body builder. Once you’ve done it once though you really will be hooked.
In a year you should really considering juicing its damn near impossible unless you got super great genes to step on a stage in just year am not saying you cant do it but its going to be very tough Have you seen those teens in the NPC dude there monsters some guys like the pros you see now trained for 11 years before they step on a stage for there first show ever. I think you should give it a couple more years some of those guys been at it since they were 15 plus genetics play a big role in the bodybuilding game if you wanna step on a stage in a year but good luck bro.
My father has been a body builder for 22 years. He is 48 and is in great shape.
I’ve seen him train for many competitions since I was 3. So what you need to do is definetely go to GMC and get some supplements NOT asteroids SUPLEMENTS. Ask them what is the best thing to take when you are preparing for a show, and for when you are working out a lot.
Second, you need to go to the gym at least 5 out 7 days! You have to, or you will not maintain in shape. You have to watch what you eat, no soda, no bread, no pasta, no beer! (Not a 12 pack anyways.) You have to eat healthy, and I don’t just mean salads, I mean grilled chicken, steamed vegies, things like that.
You need a lot of protein in you…I know shakes with raw eggs are gross, but they help you stay buff.
If you can afford it…Get a personal trainer!
Good luck!
