How Do England Expect To Keep Up Their Fitness Levels If They Are Drinking Champagne?

Can anyone answer me this question: Do other World Cup Football teams drink like the English Football team does (as it alledgeley reported to do). And how can they expect to keep up their fitness levels and last the pace.

well they can’t keep there fitness up-the body uses the same enzymes to break down and excrete alcohol as it does to break down lactic acid. when there is alcohol and lactic acid in the body the alcohol is the priority for the enzyme so the lactic acid will remain in the system not to mention it is a diaretic(increases fluid loss so rehydration will take longer affecting muscle recovery greatly). All that said if they only have a glass or two it shouldn’t have enough of an effect to hinder their recover but it definitely doesn’t help.

    Won’t make a difference.
They’re not going to win the cup.

Its up to them to drink whatever the hell they like as long as it doesnt affect their performance, who are you to judge and how to know that other teams dont do it as well?

  4. Does it matter any?
I don’ think it would really take a toll on them, and if it did, they should of thought before that, those crazy booze hounds!

As far as I’m concerned they can drink all the champagne they can guzzle. They don’t deserve to progress. Boring…boring…boring foorball, just like the French!
    ;-)

  6. they won’t get drunk… a bit alcohol won’t make any difference..plus,they suck anyways

That’s the point they don’t keep their fitness up. Before the competition started Ericsson said England were in their best shape ever. Yet they have faded in the second half of every game when they get tired.

  8. other teams do plus you dont know how much they drink plus a drink doesnt make you bad it is the excessive drinking………go england

I think it’s an Urban Myth. Besides, it’s unhealthy. Any alcohol will just make them more thristy and dull their reflexes. A team that rehydrates itself properly can perform to their highest potential. Champagne clearly doesn’t do that at all! (I don’t think Gatorade does either, but that’s just my opinion.)
