I worked as an Target employee for 3 months, and standing on the concrete floors for 10 hours a day (no real breaks!) resulted in the development of plantar faciatis, that never went away! I did all the usual treatments, freezing a can of coke and rolling it, stretches, orthotics, Ecco shoes, etc.. The ONLY thing that cured this, was this relatively inexpensive kit. YES, it was incredibly painful for the first, 10 times. YES, I had to do the routine, in a seated position, or with the aid of a pole, so not all my weight was bearing down. YES, I had to wear socks sometimes to reduce the sensitivity. However, this routine is incredibly powerful, if you stick with it, and use them on your own. I think this is a great theapy exercise, especially if you ice afterwards, or use heat or a foot bath before. These also work wonders on hands. Particularly with thumb pain. Put the moons on the floor, and get on your hands and knees, and press your palms into them. They are very good for deep and specific work. With regards to reducing the intensity of the sensation, on her website, she sells, purple nobby half moons, that are better for “waking the foot up” before advancing into the more specific and deeper penetration that the blue moons cause.
By the way, I talked to a Yamuna Body rolling teacher, and she said that Yamuna has a 2 hour foot routine! The tape is really the tip of the iceburg. If you really want to work on your legs and feet, work with someone trained in the system. Try her leg routine in additon to the total body dvd. The foot routine I’ve heard is the 10 minute warm up to the other routines. We never exercise our feet, or feel it critical until we rip an achilles tendon, etc… I think this is great! It’s worth giving it a try. PLUS it’s much cheaper than getting a massage or going to PT (or the perfect way to get more out of either, and continue the effects).
Footsavers are incredible. After following the ten-minute video routine (which even I could do on my own), my feet felt tingly and awake all day! I can’t wait to see what happens after I do the routine regularly. I’ve never come across anything as powerful for the feet–this is 100% better than any of those wooden roller-type gadgets or electric footspas.
Footsavers are good as a type of self foot massage and I recommend them highly for that purpose. However, I used the Footsavers daily for over a month and saw no long term improvement in the condition of my feet. They do help in relaxing the foot, especially the arch area. They help to alleviate post high-heels pain, but contrary to an article that I read in a major women’s magazine, they haven’t allowed me to wear high heels for extended time periods pain-free. They are easy to use, taking only a few minutes for each “session.” The half-spheres are made of a firm glossy rubber-like material. The video is very short and you will only need to view it once or maybe twice to get the hang of it. (Probably written instructions would have sufficed as well). If you have foot pain, Footsavers may help as a massage-like device. However, they will not solve chronic foot problems.
