The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is the most extensive membrane system in eucaryotic cells. Proteins transported to the Golgi apparatus, endosomes, lysosomes, and the cell surface, all must first enter the ER from the cytosol. This video shows how proteins enter the ER.
